Liang Hao: acoustic guitar
Sun Yizhou: time keeper (Closer), audio signal generator (Further)

Recorded in Liang Hao Studio, Yanjiao, Hebei, March 2021.
Mixed and mastered by Zhu Wenbo

Sun Yizhou was born in Beijing, 2000. He started experimental music performance in 2019 and has been particularly active in recent years. He has performed in many small venues and independent art spaces in China.

Sun Yizhou mainly uses electronic equipments including no-input-mixer feedback, MaxMSP, audio signal generator, and some mixtures between these. He also uses acoustic objects including small speakers, smartphone and small instruments. As experimental musicians usually do, the thought and attitude is more important to him than the gear he use.

Liang Hao was born in Guangdong, 1988. He is an oil painting artist and also plays guitar. Liang Hao was introduced to Sun Yizhou in a performance art event. Both of them live in the same neighborhood.

In the spring of 2021, Sun Yizhou and Liang Hao made some recordings, some of them became as cassette “Closer/Further”. Liang Hao played classical guitar on both sides, while Sun Yizhou used timer on Closer and audio signals generator on Further. Performances are light and careful. Liang Hao selected some specific notes on guitar, responding to the sound of audio signals generator and time length preset by timer.

The recordings were made in Liang Hao's studio in Yanjiao, Hebei. Zhu Wenbo did the mixing and mastering work. What's interesting is that in terms of hearing, the sound on Closer is very faraway, and Further is actually close to ear.(zoominnight)
