soft is Sun Yizhou's latest graphical composition project in 2021. Before the performance begins, each performer is given a postcard-sized piece of paper printed with different combinations of raised dots. The performers control the playing time and the loudness of the instrument based on their reading of the raised dots. And then, performer completes the performance by mentally noting the time.

soft is long and repetitive, it comes and goes like a wave, the volume of sound is loud and small, and no change in pitch. There are many silent blanks throughout the piece. As the performance goes on, listener may miss the composition.

During the workshop, each player was given a blank paper the size of a postcard, on which they printed different combinations of convex dots, and then performed according to the instructions using everyday objects as instruments.
